StK Advance to Winners Semis

| Shoot to Kill kicked off their title defense efforts in convincing fashion in Orlando. Their first match (following a Winners Bracket Round 1 bye) proved the team is not only as solid as ever, but also have quite a few tricks and tactics up their sleeves. StK kicked off Power Station Attrition with their standard three-rifle distribution. Playing from Lineage spawn (sniper tower), StK made a quick push off the bat to grab the artifact and take it back to their spawn. The move forced TLR to attempt to climb their way up the ramps of the sniper tower. Given that it was the first round, The Last Resistance had limited options. StK made quick work of TLR’s rush and implemented the same strategy in Round 2 to seize a 2 – 0 advantage. As noted by Oldbie, StK waited until the fourth round to purchase Enhanced Vision. The latter rounds of Power Station Attrition were marked by frantic battles across the level’s landscape, with StK’s quick thinking and awareness gaining the advantage. Ultimately, they took the round 6 – 0, as oNeEye managed to log a goose egg in the death column. Next up was Pinnacle Extraction. Given TLR’s dual-troll build, StK implemented a unique opening-round strategy. oNeEye handed out nearly all of his funds, allowing eXt to purchase resurrect and anti-magic generators, Ogre 2 to get resurrect and a rifle, Walshy to buy a tree and rifle, with oNeEye sporting only a rifle. The trend of giving a single player multiple abilities in the opening round (such as eXt’s resurrect + AMG combo) appears to be increasingly common in Orlando. |
